architecture preview

The Ufo House, Taiwan

1. The architect of the structures was Matti Suuronen.

2. The construction began in 1978, but was abandoned in 1980.

3. The structures were located in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan.

4. The buildings were demolished, so the remains are open to the public.

5. There is no information on how much the construction of these buildings cost.

6. They were intended as a vacation resort in a part of the northern coast adjacent to Tamsui, and were marketed towards U.S. Military officers coming from their East Asian postings.

7. I picked this collection of buildings because it was very interesting to me. This is because it was abandoned, it was colorful, and it didn't look like every other resort you see. I also really loved that it was from the 70's/80's. Retro stuff really hooks me. I just thought it was a splendid piece of architecture, and also that the story behind it's demolition was super morbid and cool.

Guggenheim Museum, Spain

1. The architect of this museum is Frank Gehry.

2. The construction began in 1993.

3. The museum is located in Bizkaia, Spain.

4. The building is open to the public.

5. The price of construction of the museum is 89 million dollars.

6. The museum was built to be something new, interesting, and daring. The randomness of the architecture is meant to catch the light and be interesting.

7. I chose this building it was an interesting shape, and it had a spider out front. I thought that the color was bland, but once I saw the spider, I was intrigued. The water and the bridge also interested me. Any architecture that had water surrounding it is what I like.

The Longaberger Company (The Basket Building), United States

1. The architect of this building is a firm called NBBJ.

2. The construction began in 1995 and ended in 1997.

3. The basket is located in Newark, Ohio, United States.

4. The building is not open to the public, it is a work place and a company that makes baskets.

5. The construction price is not specified.

6. The basket building was made to be the home of the Longaberger Company. The company makes baskets and distributes them.

7. I chose this one because its a basket! Its so cute and the scenery is beautiful. Its surrounded by pretty roses and trees. The land is well kept, and the best part is, the stuff they make inside the basket, is baskets!
